8 x 8 is a set of drawings developed through a self-prescribed system of instructions. The process begins with two sets of squares—four in black and four in gold—arranged in increasing dimensions and layered upon one another. The instructions establish a framework that restricts certain sequences while allowing for permutation within a defined order. Within this structured system, the act of overlapping and erasure becomes central to the formation of the image. The work explores how visual complexity can emerge from constraint.
Through this method, 8 x 8 examines how order and limitation can produce rhythm and movement within stillness. The drawings become records of a controlled system where the aesthetics of form are not pre-determined but are instead revealed through the act of following, bending, and reinterpreting the given set of rules
